Julien's Auctions recently announced that its unparalleled collection of memorabilia and artifacts will be featured in an event aptly named "Legends in Motion." This marks the U.S. auction house's debut in Hong Kong, with an exhibition and auction to be held in the Chinese city. This immersive experience promises to enthrall collectors, enthusiasts, and anyone interested in pop culture and sports memorabilia.
"Julien's is thrilled to kick off our first auction in the dynamic city of Hong Kong with this stellar line-up of iconic items from Hong Kong hero Bruce Lee to other legends in motion, including Michael Jackson, Taylor Swift, BTS, as well as winning sports memorabilia from FIFA, the NBA and more," David Goodman, CEO of Julien's Auctions, said in a statement.
"We look forward to being a part of the tremendous excitement Hong Kong is creating in the art and auction world and welcome the public to discover these incredible objects at our museum-like exhibition," he added.
At the heart of the auction is a collection sure to excite Bruce Lee fans. It includes personal and culturally significant items from the martial arts icon and film star's life and career, many unseen for over 50 years. "Legends in Motion" features 89 lots, nearly half of which are dedicated to Lee.
Key items include Lee's onyx chops used for endorsing documents, estimated at $80,000 to $100,000, and a stunt nunchaku from "Enter the Dragon" made to his specifications, valued up to $50,000. Screen-used nunchakus from "Fist of Fury" and vale-tudo gloves are each estimated at $30,000. Other notable pieces include Lee's "Enter the Dragon" trunks, expected to fetch $15,000 to $20,000, and a kung fu dress jacket worn during the film's production, estimated at $10,000 to $20,000. Combat choreography drawings from the same movie are valued at $7,000.
Lee is widely considered the most influential martial artist of all time. His skills, performances and charisma not only introduced the term "kung fu" into the English lexicon but also made him one of the first Chinese stars to achieve global recognition.
The auction also includes a signed denim jacket worn by Michael Jackson in 2002, expected to fetch up to $200,000, and a game-worn Kobe Bryant jersey from the 2013-14 NBA season, anticipated to bring in up to $100,000. This sale will test the waters for the global collectibles market and gauge sentiment in the Chinese market.

The live and online auction of "Legends in Motion" will take place at Island Shangri-La in Hong Kong at 10 a.m. on Sept. 28. Prior to the auction, the public will have the chance to view the various lots during an exhibition open from Sept. 14 to 27 at Pacific Place in Admiralty.
Julien's Auctions, known for selling Hollywood memorabilia, is expanding globally. Recently, it made headlines for selling a John Lennon guitar for $2.9 million.
The auction house previously hosted a "Legends" auction in Macao in 2010. That event, with stops in several Chinese cities, featured 435 lots of pop culture artifacts from iconic stars like Michael Jackson, The Beatles, Elvis Presley, Madonna, Princess Diana and Marilyn Monroe.
