An impressive display of fashion was staged in eastern Beijing Thursday night, officially kicking off the Beijing Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2025. Running from Sept. 12 to 17, the fashion week will feature nearly 100 events, including showcases, trade fairs, and fashion forums across several venues such as Wangjing Xiaojie Street and Shougang Park.
Accompanied by a dynamic mix of drums and rhythms, dozens of models walked the runway in modern Chinese-style garments on the opening night. Adding a unique Beijing flair, the models carried delicate traditional Beijing-style kites and bird cages in their hands as they walked.
The opening show presented 80 sets of modern Chinese-style outfits, highlighting the aesthetic allure of Chinese fashion.
Inspired by common activities seen in Beijing's hutongs and parks - such as bird-walking, playing chess, kite-flying, and Tai Chi - the designer drew from the vibrant colors of these activities to create the unique pieces for this show. The designer also incorporated the beauty of seasonal flowers and traditional Beijing architecture into the designs.
