Beijing West Industries Group (BWI) has built up its business and customer base since purchasing part of US company Delphi last year, according to Chairman and CEO Fang Jianyi. Fang was speaking at Auto Components Shanghai 2010, which is being held from June 21 to 23.

"BWI (Beijing West Industries Group) won new business and customers this year, after last year's purchase of part of Delphi," BWI Group Chairman and CEO Fang Jianyi said at Auto Components Shanghai 2010, which is being held from June 21 to 23.

"Our sales revenue reached US$160 mln in Q1 and will hit an expected US$600 million in 2010," Fang said at BWI's exhibition at the auto components show. "BWI is on the way to becoming one of the world's top-notch auto component suppliers."

BWI Group paid US$100 million last year to buy the US company Delphi's suspension and brake units, including intellectual property rights and production lines. Ohio-based Delphi is the premier supplier of automotive chassis products in the world.

BWI is 51 percent owned by Beijing-based Shougang Corp. The Fangshan District government of Beijing owns the remaining 49 percent. The company was established in March 2009 with the aim of purchasing Delphi's business and completed the acquisition in November 2009.

"This post-acquisition success is attributable to our good cultural integration," Daniel E. Warrell told China.org.cn. Warrell, a former GM-Delphi manager, is now vice president of BWI in charge of product development, manufacturing, marketing and distribution.

"BWI is a learning, open organization and we are learning from each other and creating the best corporate culture," said Warrell. "We share common goals: providing the best service to our customers while making profits. That's why we finished our cultural transition and integration very quickly."

Chairman Fang said BWI and former Delphi staff have developed a trust-based management system. BWI, as a beginner in the auto parts industry, is inheriting good practices from Delphi, he added, and has retained Delphi's senior management team.

Auto Components Shanghai 2010 attracted more than 300 components companies including Bosch, Denso, Aisin Seiki, BWI, Bridgestone, Dunlop, Yokohama, and NSK.
