CSL's Zhuzhou subsidiary will provide cargo-carrying electric locomotives to Transnet, the South Africa's largest freight logistics company, the company said.
CSL said the contract marks its largest single order of electric locomotive from overseas.
According to the contract, CSL Zhuzhou will also export electric locomotive manufacturing technologies to South Africa to realize a localized production ratio of more than 60 percent.
The first locomotive is expected to be delivered at the end of 2013, the company said.
