China National Nuclear Power Co., Ltd. (CNNP), a major producer of nuclear power, said it generated 156.16 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity from commercial operation in the first three quarters of this year, up 6.88 percent year on year.
On-grid electricity hit 146.84 billion kWh, up 7.24 percent year on year during the same period, according to data released by the company.
Of the total electricity produced during the first three quarters, the cumulative electricity generated from the company's nuclear power units stood at 139.46 billion kWh, up 2.57 percent year on year, while the cumulative new energy power generation stood at about 16.70 billion kWh, up 64.8 percent year on year, the data showed.
The company attributed the surge in new energy electric power generation to the expansion of its installed new energy capacity this year.
