The rail freight volume passing Manzhouli, China's largest land port in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, exceeded 21 million tonnes in 2023, logging a decade high, according to the China Railway Harbin Group Co., Ltd., which administers the port, on Thursday.
The figure was an increase of 35.4 percent from the previous year. Among the total rail freight the port handled last year, the volume of ore powder and coal rose by 45.9 percent and 109 percent year on year, respectively.
To improve the customs clearance and reloading efficiency at the port, the group has improved infrastructure facilities and optimized relevant procedures, reducing the average time of reloading freight train goods by nearly an hour.
