The coal output of China's central state-owned enterprises (SOEs) hit 1.13 billion tonnes in 2023, up 4.5 percent from the previous year and setting a record high.
With a significant focus on production safety, coal enterprises increased coal mining efforts to maximize coal supply and ensure energy and power supply, according to the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council.
Power generation enterprises strengthened the management of coal inventory last year, and coal inventory remained at a high level.
In 2023, power generated by these enterprises totaled 5.35 trillion kWh, representing 63 percent of total power generation in the country.
