The financial technology company Ant Group has taken another step to enhance its technological capabilities with the official launch of its Beijing-based campus, T-Space.
The move marks the formal establishment of Ant Group's Innovation and Technology Headquarters in Beijing, signifying a major move in the company's accelerated expansion in the technology sector.
At a media briefing on Aug 14, Ant Group's Chief Technology Officer He Zhengyu said the relocation of Ant Group's Beijing headquarters from the Central Business District, or CBD, to Zhongguancun carried significant symbolic meaning.
He explained: "Zhongguancun remains one of the most concentrated areas for tech talent in China. Today, Ant's decision to root itself in Beijing, specifically in Zhongguancun, reflects our firm commitment to advancing in technology."
T-Space is located in the southern wing of Zhongguancun.
"The 'T' stands for both 'Technology' and 'Talent'," He told reporters, adding that the name of Ant T-Space reflects the company's focus on technology and talent development in Beijing. Following the launch of T-Space, 3,000 Ant Group employees in Beijing will work from the new office, with more than 2,000 a part of the technology R&D team.
At the T-Space launch ceremony, Chairman and CEO of Ant Group Eric Jing said Ant Group will fully leverage Beijing's advantages in talent and technological innovation, increase investment, and usher in a new chapter for Ant Technology.
