Hong Kong's new Capital Investment Entrant Scheme has received more than 500 applications from high-net-worth individuals worldwide by Sept. 13, according to Invest Hong Kong under the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government.
The amount of investment to result from these applications is estimated at over 15 billion Hong Kong dollars (1.92 billion U.S. dollars), said Invest Hong Kong on Monday.
"The increasing application figures reflect the strong confidence from high-net-worth individuals in Hong Kong," said Alpha Lau, Invest Hong Kong's director-general of investment promotion.
The scheme, launched on March 1, attracts successful businessmen and innovative entrepreneurs, and enhances the strengths of Hong Kong's asset and wealth management industry, she added.
Invest Hong Kong also announced on Monday that application forms can now be submitted online.
