Chinese telecom firm Huawei hosted a training workshop in Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, to boost information and communications technology (ICT) skills in the East African nation.
The event, held on Tuesday, brought together key instructors and stakeholders across the country, fostering an exchange of ideas to advance ICT education in Kenya.
Fang Zheng, human resources director at Huawei Kenya, emphasized that the training is part of Huawei's long-term strategy to bridge Kenya's ICT skill gaps by equipping instructors with the necessary tools and knowledge to nurture top-tier ICT talent.
Meanwhile, Michael Kamau, Huawei ICT Academy manager, highlighted that the training focused on certifications like Huawei Certified ICT Professional and Huawei Certified ICT Expert, which are crucial for career advancement in the ICT field.
Huawei also opened registrations for its ninth annual ICT competition, covering areas such as networking, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence (AI). Additionally, the company introduced an instructor competition to integrate cutting-edge technologies like AI and cloud computing into education.
