A digital technology building located in downtown Beijing is planned to be put into use next year.
As one of the major construction projects of the "Silicon Alley" initiative proposed by the Dongcheng district government, the building will bring together innovative technology companies and lead the development of the digital economy in the district.
Covering a total area of approximately 5,400 square meters, the digital technology building is the first industrial project launched since the start of the "Silicon Alley" initiative. Having begun construction last September, the building is set to be completed by the end of 2025.
By transforming existing urban spaces, the "Silicon Alley" project aims to promote the clustering and development of science and technology innovation industries through urban renewal in the central city area, said an official involved in the project.
In addition to "Silicon Alley" that focuses on the digital economy, the district government also proposed the construction of another three "Alleys," which respectively focus on cultural, financial, and healthcare industries, aiming to promote industrial clustering and high-quality economic development.
The area of "Silicon Alley" has already gathered a number of specialized national high-tech enterprises. As of the end of August, 580 national high-tech enterprises had registered in Dongcheng district, 21.7% of which are in the "Silicon Alley."
