The 2024 World Intelligent Connected Vehicles Conference (WICV) kicked off on Thursday in Beijing, showing cutting-edge technologies related to intelligent connected vehicles and helping to improve Beijing High-level Automated Driving Demonstration Area.
A total of 252 enterprises around the world in the intelligent connected vehicle sector attended the 2024 World Intelligent Connected Vehicles Conference (WICV), showcasing their new technologies and products.
The WICV was organized by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Transport, and the Beijing municipal government.
At the themed exhibition in Yizhuang, a Q-Bic autonomous vehicle without a dashboard, steering wheel, or brake pedals, showcased a vision of the future of passenger cars.
Wei Xinzhu, vice president of IAT Automobile Technology Co., said the vehicle is capable of level 4 autonomous driving and features an intelligent, user-friendly connected system. Its interior includes a surrounding touchscreen display, complemented by a voice control system and a holographic imaging system, providing convenience for passengers in the vehicle.
Besides, exhibitors showed cutting-edge technologies that will drive the development of intelligent connected vehicles. Yang Yue, co-founder of Huixi Intelligent Technology Co., presented a chip product with international competitiveness. This chip integrates numerous computing units and components, with hundreds of billions of transistors.
"This is Huixi's first high-performance intelligent driving chip product launched with the support of Yizhuang, and it is also the first domestically produced automotive-grade chip with native adaptation to Transformer large models," Yang explained.
Such cutting-edge technologies will help to upgrade the Beijing High-level Automated Driving Demonstration Area from stage 3.0 to 4.0.
Stage 3.0 of Beijing High-level Automated Driving Demonstration Area was started in September 2022, and is planned to be completed within this year. Once completed, it will support 56 functions across five business areas, including autonomous driving regulation and smart traffic control. In the future, it will support information management and major events in Tongzhou district, as well as Beijing Capital International Airport and the new exhibition area in Shunyi district.
According to the plan, Beijing South Station, Fengtai Station, Chaoyang Station, Qinghe Station, Beijing Sub-Center Railway Station, Beijing Capital International Airport, and Beijing Daxing International Airport will comprehensively carry out autonomous vehicle testing during the construction of stage 4.0.
