Zhao Leji, born in March 1957, is a male ethnic Han from Xi'an, Shaanxi Province. He entered the workforce in September 1974 and joined the CPC in July 1975. He received a postgraduate education at the Central Party School.

He is currently a member of the Political Bureau and the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, and head of the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee.
