A three-year-old boy survived a ninth-floor jump in Nanjing, capital of the eastern Jiangsu Province as he tried to imitate the flying dinosaurs in a cartoon movie.
Xiao Kuankuan jumped from the ninth floor of this building. |
The boy identified as Xiao Kuankuan wore a thick cotton-padded jacket when he landed on soil ground on his buttocks. He was immediately sent to a hospital and his life was saved.
The boy is now in stable condition after a spleen resection surgery and he needs another surgery to treat his fractured left arm, the Yangtze Evening News reported today.
The incident occurred on the morning of March 13 when a neighbor, Ma Shaolin, was airing quilts in the sun. She was alarmed by a thump and saw a boy lying in the bush with his nose bleeding, the paper said.
She called the community officials who brought the injured boy to the Jianye District Hospital with the help of a mini van driver.
After checking the boy's condition, the doctors suggested transferring the boy to the Mingji Hospital which is capable of difficult surgery.
"Thanks to these warm-hearted people, the boy has survived. If he wasn't brought here in time, he might have died because of his broken spleen," Mingji Hospital doctors said.
