China's central government on Tuesday allocated 76 million yuan (11.7 million U.S. dollars) to southwest Guizhou Province in subsidies for residents whose homes have been damaged in recent hail and wind storms.
The Ministry of Civil Affairs and China's disaster reduction authority have sent work teams to the province to help with the local government's relief work.
Since April 3, more than 474,000 people living in Guizhou have suffered from extreme weather including severe thundershowers, wind and hail. The area has been evacuated of more than 100,000 people.
The disaster has leveled more than 300 buildings and destroyed 10,000 more, leaving direct economic losses of 247 million yuan.
