China is to launch a campaign for the study, promotion and implementation of the spirit of the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) among its entire military.
Army personnel should be educated to hold high the great banner of socialism with Chinese characteristics and strengthen their support and faith to the Party, Xu Qiliang, vice chairman of the CPC Central Military Commission (CMC), said at a meeting on the campaign on Monday.
The campaign should also consolidate the army's adherence to the principle of the Party's absolute leadership over the armed forces, and ensure the army's resolute obedience to the command of the CPC Central Committee, the CMC and the CMC Chairman Xi Jinping, Xu said.
Upon the approval of Xi and the CMC, the General Political Department of the People's Liberation Army will send publicity teams to army units across the country to give lectures on the spirit of the congress.
Xu told the members of the publicity teams to explain the congress spirit in a comprehensive and accurate manner and help military personnel deepen their understanding of it.
He also urged clear explanation of the requirements of the congress concerning the army's construction, especially about the modernization of national defense and the armed forces, in a bid to educate military servicemen at all levels to consider their duties and responsibilities and intensify their combat capabilities.
The publicity teams should focus their teaching on the theme of upholding and developing socialism with Chinese characteristics, and elaborate on the important significance of the 18th CPC National Congress to the development of the Party, the country and the army, according to Xu.
