The State Grid Chifeng Power Supply Company put a 220 kV line into operation on Monday, marking the full completion of the power supply project for the electrification of the Jining-Tongliao Railway in Inner Mongolia.
The project, which commenced in August 2022, involved the construction of three new 220 kV switch stations and 20 transmission lines with a total length of 581.8 kilometers.
Its route traverses complex terrain, including mountains, swamps, and deserts. The State Grid Chifeng Power Supply Company adopted a construction scheme that combined tracked tank vehicles with column blasting, using ground pumps for elevated pouring operations. This not only improved the mechanized operation but also reduced the time required for transportation, significantly improving construction efficiency.
Upon completion of the project, the line will be powered by a dual power supply system, greatly increasing the railway's transportation capacity and thus helping promote the region's economic growth.
The project will form a rapid passenger transportation corridor that runs through Inner Mongolia from east to west, extending China's high-speed passenger transportation network into the central and eastern regions of Inner Mongolia.
