AEROSPACE CLOUD PLATFORM
China launched an open cloud platform on Friday to provide the public with a series of aerospace information application services, including remote-sensing data.
The GEOVIS Cloud Open Platform is expected to support fields such as smart agriculture, environmental protection, urban planning, traffic monitoring and natural disaster warning.
It was designed to lower the threshold for users to access aerospace information services. Some common remote-sensing products for key parameters such as vegetation ecology, water resources, soil and atmosphere were also introduced on the platform.
RESPONSIBLE AI DEVELOPMENT
At a forum highlighting responsible Artificial intelligence (AI) development and applications held in Zhejiang Province of east China, experts and industry insiders from both home and abroad have called for a people-centered approach to harnessing AI technology for the benefit of humankind.
Many speakers at the summit reached a consensus on promoting the development of AI to improve human well-being, while also stressing this effort should prioritize social security, respect human rights, share global values, and take a people-centered, ethical approach.
RENEWABLE ENERGY CAPACITY
China's total installed power generation capacity reached 3.19 billion kilowatts at the end of October, up 14.5 percent year on year, data from the National Energy Administration showed on Friday.
Solar power capacity surged 48 percent to about 790 million kilowatts, while wind power capacity rose 20.3 percent to about 490 million kilowatts.
China's renewable energy expansion continues to set new records, with over 200 million kilowatts of newly installed capacity for renewable energy power generation in the first three quarters of 2024, accounting for more than 80 percent of total new installed capacity. Enditem
