China will work with Vanuatu to summarize experiences, strengthen exchanges and further cooperation, said Chinese President Hu Jintao in Beijing Friday.
Hu, in a meeting with visiting Vanuatuan Prime Minister Ham Lini, said the Chinese government and people value Sino-Vanuatuan relations and will make joint efforts with Vanuatu to ensure sound, steady, lasting and further progress of bilateral relations in the new century.
Reviewing the development of bilateral relations, Hu spoke highly of the important contributions made by Vanuatuan leaders including Lini.
Hu also voiced his appreciation for the new Vanuatuan government's adherence to the one-China policy, practice of no official contacts in any form with Taiwan and support for China's reunification.
Hu pointed to the current bilateral relations with deepened political mutual trust, continuous development of economic and trade cooperation and active party-to-party exchanges.
The Chinese side is pleasant to see that bilateral friendship has been deeply rooted in the two peoples, noted Hu.
Lini, who arrived in Beijing Thursday on an official visit to China as guest of Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao, said the Vanuatuan government firmly follows the one-China policy and holds that the government of the People's Republic of China is the sole legitimate government representing China and Taiwan is an inalienable part of China.
He said the one-China policy embraces support from the Vanuatuan parliament and people, and the Vanuatuan side opposes any deviation from the one-China principle.
He said since the two countries forged diplomatic ties, they have conducted sincere cooperation while respecting each other's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
China has become Vanuatu's important cooperative partner, Lini said, and the Vanuatuan side will join China in exploring new cooperative spheres and ways to promote the development of bilateral relations.
