A Strong Sense of Community for the Chinese Nation

Xi Jinping advocates a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation. He pointed out, at the Central Conference on Ethnic Affairs in September 2014, that to consolidate the unity of the Chinese nation, an effective long-term approach is to foster shared cultural identity and cultural belonging, and create a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation.

Xi reiterated this view in his report to the 19th National Congress of the CPC and called for more exchanges and interactions among different ethnic groups so that they will unite closely and work together for common prosperity and development.

The Chinese nation is a community of shared past and shared future. The ethnic groups that make up the Chinese nation can look forward to bright prospects only when they integrate their future with that of the whole nation.

History proves that a sense of community is the foundation for China’s national unity and ethnic solidarity, and the soul of China. To make the Chinese Dream come true, China should further enhance public awareness of this sense, and cement the political, theoretical and social foundations for all ethnic groups to unite.

中華民族共同體意識(shí)

中華民族共同體意識(shí)是習(xí)近平倡導(dǎo)的重要理念之一。2014年9月，習(xí)近平在中央民族工作會(huì)議暨國(guó)務(wù)院第六次全國(guó)民族團(tuán)結(jié)進(jìn)步表彰大會(huì)上提出，加強(qiáng)中華民族大團(tuán)結(jié)，長(zhǎng)遠(yuǎn)和根本的是增強(qiáng)文化認(rèn)同，建設(shè)各民族共有精神家園，積極培養(yǎng)中華民族共同體意識(shí)。中共十九大報(bào)告進(jìn)一步提出，鑄牢中華民族共同體意識(shí)，加強(qiáng)各民族交往交流交融，促進(jìn)各民族像石榴籽一樣緊緊抱在一起，共同團(tuán)結(jié)奮斗、共同繁榮發(fā)展。中華民族是一個(gè)命運(yùn)共同體，一榮俱榮、一損俱損。各民族只有把自己的命運(yùn)同中華民族的命運(yùn)緊緊連接在一起，才有前途，才有希望。歷史證明，中華民族共同體意識(shí)是國(guó)家統(tǒng)一之基、民族團(tuán)結(jié)之本、精神力量之魂。實(shí)現(xiàn)中華民族偉大復(fù)興的中國(guó)夢(mèng)，需要進(jìn)一步培育中華民族共同體意識(shí)，筑牢各族人民團(tuán)結(jié)奮斗的政治基礎(chǔ)、思想基礎(chǔ)和社會(huì)基礎(chǔ)。
