The System of Core Socialist Values

A plan to promote the core values of socialism was introduced by the 16th CPC Central Committee at its sixth plenary session in October 2006. Core values of socialism encompass the guiding principles of Marxism, the ideals of socialism with Chinese characteristics, the national spirit of patriotism, a commitment to reform and innovation, and a socialist honor code.

To promote core socialist values in the new era, the Chinese people need to uphold Marxism, firm up and further build the ideal of communism and a shared ideal of socialism with Chinese characteristics, and nurture and practice core socialist values, while making greater efforts to ensure that they maintain the initiative and have their say in the realm of ideology. They need to promote creative evolution and development of fine traditional Chinese culture, see their revolutionary culture remains alive and strong, and develop an advanced socialist culture. They need to cherish their cultural roots, draw on other cultures, and be forward-thinking. They should do more to foster a Chinese spirit, Chinese values, and Chinese strength as a source of cultural and moral guidance.

社會主義核心價值體系

2006年10月召開的中共十六屆六中全會提出建設(shè)社會主義核心價值體系，并指出社會主義核心價值體系包括四個方面的基本內(nèi)容：馬克思主義指導(dǎo)思想、中國特色社會主義共同理想、以愛國主義為核心的民族精神和以改革創(chuàng)新為核心的時代精神及社會主義榮辱觀。在新時代，堅持社會主義核心價值體系表現(xiàn)為，堅持馬克思主義，牢固樹立共產(chǎn)主義遠大理想和中國特色社會主義共同理想，培育和踐行社會主義核心價值觀，不斷增強意識形態(tài)領(lǐng)域主導(dǎo)權(quán)和話語權(quán)，推動中華優(yōu)秀傳統(tǒng)文化創(chuàng)造性轉(zhuǎn)化、創(chuàng)新性發(fā)展，繼承革命文化，發(fā)展社會主義先進文化，不忘本來、吸收外來、面向未來，更好構(gòu)筑中國精神、中國價值、中國力量，為人民提供精神指引。
