Leaders of many more foreign political parties and organizations have congratulated the Communist Party of China (CPC) on the convening of its 17th National Congress.

In his congratulatory message to the CPC, Belarussian President Alexander Lukashenko said that under the leadership of the CPC, the Chinese people will make great achievements in building a harmonious socialist society.

He believed that the congress will pass resolutions that will promote China's sustainable development and further raise its international prestige, he added.

In his greetings, Runaldo Ronald Venetiaan, president of Suriname and chairman of the National Party of Suriname, expressed his best wishes to the CPC, hoping the party would "work out the necessary strategic arrangements to further China's economic, political, cultural and social development."

Abdoulaye Wade, president of Senegal and secretary-general of the Senegalese Democratic Party, highly regarded the measures that are expected to be discussed and adopted during the congress, especially those regarding China's reform, opening-up and modernization.

He said Senegal is ready to make concerted efforts with China to strengthen the friendly relations between the two countries.

Ranko Krivokapic, speaker of Montenegro's parliament and chairman of the Social Democratic Party of Montenegro, said that over the last several decades, the CPC has brought about the greatest development in China's history and benefited the well-being of the Chinese people.

This great achievement entitles the CPC to continue to lead China in building a just and prosperous society, he said.

Nipake Edward Natapei, deputy prime minister of Vanuatu and president of the Vanua-aku Party of Vanuatu, extended his "heartfelt congratulations" to the CPC, saying that over the last five years, the CPC "has made remarkable achievements in directing and promoting China's economic and social development."

"As the first party among the South Pacific Island countries to establish relations with the Communist Party of China, the Vanua-aku Pati has been enjoying this fraternal friendship with your esteemed party over the years," Natapei said.

Natapei said his party is always ready to work jointly with the CPC "in pushing the friendly relations and cooperation between our two parties to a new high."

Natapei reiterated that the Vanua-aku Party will continue its "unswayable adherence to the one China principle."

Ibuki Bunmei, secretary general of the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan, said the party hoped the CPC, under a new leadership, will make greater contributions to the reform and development of China and elevate China's socialist modernization to greater height.

The Liberal Democratic Party is ready to continue working with the CPC to promote the exchanges and cooperation between Japan and China, Bunmei said.

In its message, the Democratic Party of Thailand extended its "heartfelt congratulations and best wishes" to the CPC for a successful convention.

"The Democratic Party is certain that, under the new leadership, the Communist Party of China will be strengthened and China will continue to prosper and progress further and play a contributive and constructive role in regional and world peace, security and prosperity," said the message.

The party stands ready to cooperate more closely with the CPC to "further the party-to-party relationship for the well being of the two countries and peoples," it said.

H. M. Jusuf Kalla, chairman of the Golongan Karya (GOLKAR) Party of Indonesia, and Sumarsono, secretary general of the party, said in their message that they hoped the congress would run well and be successful in reaching the targeted goals.

The Golkar Party is ready for cooperation with the CPC, the message said. "This cooperation is aimed at developing a good understanding between the Golkar Party and China Communist Party that in turn hopefully leads to the establishment of bilateral trust between Indonesia and China for the sake of national development in each country."

Germany and the wider world are following with great interest and appreciate the reforms that China has undertaken in recent years, Beck said.

Cooperation between political parties is an important element in promoting world peace and exchanges between people of different countries, Beck added. He pledged to continue and expand the friendly exchanges with the CPC.

Mircea Geoana, president of the Social Democratic Party of Romania, said that China, under the leadership of Hu Jintao, has become increasingly prosperous and played a more and more important role in safeguarding world peace and promoting international cooperation.

The Social Democratic Party of Romania will always be a firm supporter for the partnership of allround friendly cooperation between the two countries, he said.
