In recent years, China has actively conducted cultural exchanges with other countries, participating and hosting such activities both in China and abroad. For instance, exhibitions on Chinese cultural relics were held in New York, Washington, London and Paris, where they were well received. The Information Office of the State Council held the ?99 Chinese Culture Week? in Paris, ?A Tour of Chinese Culture in the United States? in 2000, and the ?China Day? at the 3rd Asian-Pacific Week in Berlin in 2001. The three large-scale, high-standard comprehensive exchange activities demonstrated the favorable, vigorous image of China in the ongoing reform and opening-up, and promoted the exchange and mutual understanding with related countries.
