Oct. 4th is World Animal Day - a very special day for the animals. World Animal Day presents a wonderful opportunity for everyone who cares about animals to be seen standing united with animal advocates around the globe in order to heighten public awareness of animal issues - an opportunity far too good to miss!
If you are not already doing something special for the animals in celebration of World Animal Day, please visit the website (http://www.worldanimalday.org.uk) and see what's happening in your area. We also have a couple of ideas of things you can do very quickly that will go a long, long way towards helping raise awareness of World Animal Day.
1. Send a World Animal Day greeting to everyone in your email address book: family, friends, neighbours and colleagues. In the resources section of the website you will find a link to a selection of e-greeting cards or you might prefer to create a greeting of your own.
2. Shout 'HAPPY WORLD ANIMAL DAY' around the world on Twitter, Facebook etc. Why not upload a video clip of you and your friends actually shouting your World Animal Day greeting - from the roof tops if possible!
Be inspired to get involved in 2011 by reading reports about events to raise awareness and fundraise that have taken place in previous years (simply follow the links at the top of the website home page to WAD 2010 and previous years). You'll see that events are organised by large organisations right through to small grass roots groups with very limited means proving that this day really is all about celebrating the animals no matter how large or wealthy the organisation is! The images at the end of this email are just a few examples.
