The 28-year-old man died of a heart attack at the Elefsina front, some 18 km northwest of Athens, Greek national news agency AMNA quoted local authorities as saying.
Three fire fighters were transferred to hospitals with respiratory problems at Elefsina and Salamina, according to Greek media reports.
Greek fire service struggled to bring under control at least three wild fires burning at Attica prefecture and other parts of the country on Wednesday.
The blazes at Elefsina, spurred by strong winds, have briefly threatened a military base, houses and an industrial zone.
Some 100 fire fighters have been mobilized to contain the fires and eight aircraft were sent to the scene.
Greek authorities have been tested by some 40 wild fires that broke out in Attica and another parts of Greece since the weekend, which burnt down bushy areas, a dozen houses and caused the injuries of four fire fighters.
In Greece, there are several wild fires each summer which are linked to weather conditions and arsons.
