The Chinese foreign ministry announced on Wednesday that Xi will attend the Paris Climate Conference between November 29th and 30th, with an aim of reaching a deal on a post-2020 global action plan.

On the sidelines of the meeting, he will meet with foreign leaders including French President Francois Holland and US President Barrack Obama. China says it has several expectations from the conference.

"First, climate change is mainly caused by centuries of carbon emissions in developed countries, so their responsibilities and obligations must be differentiated from developing countries. Second, this year's conference should not just focus on the agenda after 2020, but also the implementation of deals that have already been reached before."

"Third, the Paris conference must send a clear signal to the world on low-carbon green development, and encourage each country to explore their own path of low-carbon growth. Lastly, developed countries should fulfill their obligation in financial and technological aid to developing countries, particularly fulfilling their pledge of providing 100 billion US dollars annual aid before 2020 to developing countries and gradually increasing the fund after 2020," said Liu Zhenmin, Chinese vice foreign minister.
