A huge parterre was installed in the Tian'anmen Square Friday in Beijing to mark the 60th birthday of the People's Republic of China (PRC).
More than 500 workers arrived at Tian'anmen at about 10:45 p.m. Thursday, soon after a singing and dancing gala came to an end.
It took them about eight hours to lay the foundation and fix some 100,000 pots of flowers into a basket-shaped parterre, which is 40 meters in diameter and 14.9 meters in height.
It joined some other parterres, such as the 56 "ethnic unity columns" erected in the world's largest sqaure, and most of the 34 floats displayed during Thursday's mass parade to welcome visitors.
