Beijing's transportation system evacuated more than 175,000 people that participated in Thursday's grand National Day parade in less than three hours, said an official with the municipal transport authority.
More than 3,800 buses and 101 subway trains began to transport the paraders away from the Tian'anmen Square at 11:50 a.m., when the mass pageant was approaching the end, according to the official with the Beijing Municipal Committee of Transport.
By 2:30 p.m., all the paraders had left the square. The whole process lasted about 160 minutes.
