The Communist Party of China (CPC) vowed to "effectively prevent and resolutely crack down on ethnicity-related separatist activities" as a key session of the CPC Central Committee closed on Friday.
According to a communique published upon the closing of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 17th CPC Central Committee, the Party will also launch massive, in-depth and persistent educational campaigns on ethnic unity to this end.
It is of "great significance" to manage ethnic work well and strengthen and develop a socialist ethnic relationship featuring equality, unity, mutual assistance and harmony, the document said.
"Under the new circumstances, we should continue to promote the progress of ethnic unity to ensure the country's long-term social stability and harmony," said the communique.
In the communique, the CPC said it will comprehensively carry out its ethnic policies and the system of regional ethnic autonomy to promote the economic and social development in ethnic areas.
The CPC also approved?a decision on major issues concerning Party building at the close of a four-day plenary session.
Hu Jintao, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, delivered a work report at the Fourth Plenary Session of the 17th CPC Central Committee, which was held from Sept. 15 to 18 in Beijing.
Some delegates to the 17th CPC National Congress who were in charge of Party affairs at the grassroots, and experts and scholars in this field, also attended the meeting.
