Fund to pay for treatment of seriously ill children
Adjust font size:

Chinese Red Cross Foundation (CRCF) and Jianong Co. Ltd have jointly established "TJOY Angel Fund" to help Chinese children with severe disease from needy families.

Jianong donated two million yuan (US$263,000) to start the foundation, and 20 children with congenital heart disease will become the first batch of beneficiaries.

Each of the 20 children will get 10,000 yuan for their treatment from the fund named after the TJOY face cream produced by Jianong.

Tang Shengwen, vice chairman of the CRCF executive council, said Jianong had previously donated one million yuan to treat 40 children with congenital heart disease.

Tang said almost 500,000 children contracted serious diseases each year in China, but medical treatment was too expensive for many families.

"With enough money, 99 percent of them could be successfully treated with the medical equipment and expertise available in China," he said.

"We will continue to raise donation for the fund and help more children with serious disease such as heart diseases, leukemia, cerebral palsy," he said.
