Thailand's convicted ex-premier Thaksin Shinawatra at his Twitter page expressed his patience on waiting to talk to the incumbent premier, after the latter gave an interview through Twitter, The Nation online reported Wednesday.
The self-exiled former premier on Tuesday night said at his Twitter page, Thaksin Live, that he sympathized with Khun (Mr.) Abhisit, who "was busy solving many obstacles", according to The Nation.
"I can wait to talk to Khun Abhisit as he is now busy," Thaksin said.
He was responding to a Twitter interview between Abhisit and The Nation's editor-in-chief Suthichai Yoon in the earlier night.
Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva gave his probably first twitter interview on Monday night, saying Thaksin must return to Thailand to serve his jail term before they can hold a talk.
Interviewed through Twitter, a comparatively new form of social networking and mini-online-chatting service, by The Nation's editor-in-chief on 9:30 p.m. local time on Monday, the prime minister insisted Thaksin would have to respect the laws like all Thais.
Thaksin was, under the charge of power abuse, sentenced in absentia to two years in jail by Thai Criminal Court in 2008, before he and his wife found a chance to leave Thailand and never came back. Thaksin had been ousted by a military coup in September19, 2006.
When asked to confirm whether he would not hold any talk with Thaksin unless the self-exiled former premier returns to serve his jail term first, Abhisit replied, "I want everybody to respect the laws".
