??? 在今年的兩會報道中，諸如“中等發(fā)達國家”、“全面建設小康社會”、“適度寬松的貨幣政策”等詞語不斷出現；這些詞句譯成英語有一個共同的特點，那就是其中都有一個單詞——“moderately”。
“moderately”的含義是“適度地”、“中庸地”、“有節(jié)制地”，可以根據不同的情況靈活理解。例如，我國提出的經濟建設“三步走”發(fā)展戰(zhàn)略，第三步目標包括，到21世紀中葉，人均國民生產總值達到中等發(fā)達國家水平。今年年初，中科院發(fā)布報告，預測中國可能提前10年左右實現這個目標。請看報道：
A recent statement claiming that the dream will be fulfilled a decade or so ahead of schedule to make China a "moderately developed country" around 2040 excited many. The latest Chinese Academy of Social Sciences report that the country has a slim 4-percent chance of becoming a developed country by the end of the century, however, sounds more frustrating than inspiring.

再如，“小康”的意思是“家庭生活比較寬裕，可以安然度日”；因此，“小康社會”常常翻譯成“moderately prosperous society”。在全國政協第十一屆三次會議的開幕會上，政協主席賈慶林在工作報告中說道：
“一年來，人民政協……為有效應對國際金融危機沖擊、推進全面建設小康社會進程、促進祖國和平統(tǒng)一大業(yè)作出了重要貢獻。”
