Russian international forward Andrei Kirilenko will skip the world championship in order to recover from injury, the Utah Jazz player told local media on Monday.
Kirilenko said the club suggested him take some time off to recover completely from his injury and he finally chose to withdraw from the world championship, according to the daily newspaper Sport-Express.
Kirilenko said the club invested a lot in him so he had to act in their interest although he likes to play for his country.
The tournament is due to take place in Turkey from August 29 till September 12.
