World number-one women's tennis player Caroline Wozniacki and her doubles partner Malou Ejdesgaard won the first-round match of the Sony Ericsson Open in Copenhagen on Monday.
The pair cruised to victory over Denmark's Mai Grage and American Julie Boserup, winning 6-4, 6-1, at the Farum Arena, in Copenhagen, capital of Denmark.
Grage and Boserup put up some resistance to draw 4-4 in the first set, before losing their rhythm and then the game in the second set.
Denmark's Wozniacki, who won the tournament's opening edition on home soil in 2010, hopes to repeat the feat this year.
Top-seed and tournament favorite, she faces the USA's Irina Falconi in her first singles match Tuesday evening.
"I really like playing at home and really looking forward to tomorrow's match," Wozniacki told Danish broadcaster TV2 Monday.
Meanwhile, Denmark's Ejdesgaard takes on the USA's Bethanie Mattek-Sands, and China's Zhang Shuai plays Boserup on Tuesday.
Earlier Monday, Mattek-Sands and US doubles partner Melanie Oudin beat China's Han Xinyun and partner Marina Shamayko of Russia 6-2, 6-4.
The Sony Ericsson Open is part of the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) professional tournament circuit and runs till Sunday.
