8, Paul Scholes
The England and Manchester United pass master announced his retirement from football on 31 May, 2011 and joined United's coaching staff.
On 5 August, 2011, United held a testimonial match to honor his 17-year service to the club. The match was played at Old Trafford against New York Cosmos. United won the match 6–0, and, fittingly, Scholes opened the scoring with a trademark strike from 25 yards out.
