The 2019 FIA Formula E Championship will heat up Haitang Bay in Sanya on March 23rd, for round 6 of this year's racing season. It will be the first time the race has been held in Sanya.
The 2019 Sanya E-Prix is the sixth installment of the fifth season of Formula E. The event in Sanya will be held on March 22nd and 23rd, 2019. Twenty-two drivers and eleven teams will race on a 2.3km temporary track with 11 turns at Haitang Bay.
Situated on the southern tip of Hainan, Sanya will see the new Gen2 cars battle it out on the tropical shores of the South China Sea. All drivers will race wheel-to-wheel against the backdrop of Haitang Bay.
Formula E previously delivered spectacular races in Beijing for its first two seasons. Sanya E-Prix follows on from Round 5 in Hong Kong on March 10, this will be the third time it returns to the Chinese mainland for its fifth season. China is the only country to have had two race stations in the fifth season of FE.
Formula E, officially the ABB FIA Formula E Championship, is a class of auto racing that uses only electric-powered cars. The series was conceived in 2011, and the inaugural championship started in Beijing in September 2014. It is sanctioned by the FIA.
