Xiamen Tefang smashed Ruichang Biyuan 3-0 in the final to win the China Badminton Super League (CBSL) title in Lingshui, south China's Hainan Province on Tuesday.
Facing his old partner Li Junhui, Liu Yuchen and his teammate Ou Xuanyi completely dominated the match as they earned the first point for Xiamen in men's doubles after thrashing Li and Indonesia's Muhammad Ahsan in straight sets 11-7, 11-3, 11-8.
"I think we played very well. We put them in our rhythm, and they cannot break through our defense," said Liu. " He [Li] played pretty well in yesterday's semifinal, so today I didn't slack off at all."
In the men's singles, Weng Hongyang beat Li Shifeng in a 62-minute rubber to take the match point for Xiamen.
Weng took the first two sets with an identical 11-8 before Li clawed back with 13-11 in the third set. Weng then seized the momentum and claimed the next set 11-9.
"I was in a bit of a slump recently, so I need a win like this to release myself," said Weng. "I hope to adjust my form and mentality through such a tournament."
The mixed doubles event saw world champions Zheng Siwei/Huang Yaqiong ease past Ahsan/Liu Xuanxuan in 28 minutes.
Zheng and Huang won the first two sets 11-7, 11-7 in just 14 minutes. The Ruichang pair then answered with 11-7 in the third before Zheng and Huang claimed the final victory 11-6.
Earlier on Tuesday, Shenzhen Yuzhong defeated Zhejiang Jingti 3-1 to finish third in the league.
