Kay Felder's triple-double helped the Beijing Royal Fighters defeat the Shanxi Loongs 113-103, while the Jiangsu Dragons cruised past the Nanjing Monkey Kings 107-78 in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) League on Monday.
The game between Shanxi and Beijing was tied at 54-54 after a back-and-forth half. Meng Zikai dominated the third quarter as he scored 11 consecutive points for Beijing via accurate three-pointers in just six minutes, helping the visiting team establish a 7-point lead before entering the last quarter.
After Zhang Ning led Shanxi to make it close as Felder was fouled out in the last match-up, both Yu Changdong and Zhang Fan stood out and drew fouls in clutch time to help Beijing lock the win.
Felder contributed a triple-double with 25 points, 10 rebounds and 12 assists for Beijing, while Zhang Ning scored 25 points and six rebounds for Shanxi.
Although ranking at the bottom of the league, Jiangsu had a strong start in the game against Nanjing. The two rivals had a tit-for-tat match at the beginning but Jiangsu made it a one-sided game in no time through its huge advantage in the paint.
Five players from Jiangsu scored in double digits, led by Cui Xiaolong with 23 points. Antonio Blakeney from Nanjing scored a game-high 29 points.
On the same day, the Zhejiang Lions edged the Beijing Ducks in the overtime 106-103, the Liaoning Flying Leopards grabbed their 8th straight win with a 104-93 victory over the Guangdong Southern Tigers, and the Jilin Northeast Tigers scraped a narrow win over the Zhejiang Golden Bulls 106-104.
