The Xinjiang Flying Tigers extended their winning streak to four matches after sailing past the Ningbo Rockets 100-87, while the Tianjin Pioneers edged the Beijing Ducks 130-124 in overtime in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league on Wednesday.
With the win, Xinjiang consolidated its leading position in the 20-team rankings. Four Xinjiang players scored double digits, led by Travis Trice's 29 points, while Damyean Dotson bagged a team-high 28 points for Ningbo.
A pair of 3-pointers from Trice capped Xinjiang's 10-0 run midway through the first quarter, and Xinjiang buckled up its defense on the way to a 34-22 lead after the quarter.
Luo Kaiwen scored eight points for Ningbo in the second period, but Xinjiang showed their tenacity in defense to wrap up the first half ahead 53-44.
Xinjiang's advantage was extended to 16 points heading into the final 12 minutes.
Elsewhere, Tianjin guard Taylor Rochestie drained a 3-pointer to force the game against Beijing into overtime, where his teammate David James stepped up to seal the win.
James contributed a double-double of 34 points and 12 rebounds, and Rochestie added 18 points and 10 assists.
Also on Wednesday, the Guangdong Southern Tigers defeated the Shanxi Loongs 115-110, the Qingdao Eagles notched a 107-81 win against the Jiangsu Dragons, the Shanghai Sharks upset the Shandong Heroes 110-100, the Guangzhou Loong Lions triumphed 116-106 over the Fujian Sturgeons, and the Nanjing Monkey Kings downed bottom side Sichuan Blue Whales 99-95.
