Zhang Zhenlin played almost the whole game and scored a game-high 27 points, helping the Liaoning Flying Leopards made a reversal to beat the Beijing Ducks 96-84 in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) on Sunday.
Liaoning and Beijing battled intensely in the first quarter, until the hosts maintained their momentum in the second period and built an eight-point lead at the halftime.
In the third quarter, Liaoning performed more smoothly to narrow the gap to three points. Han Dejun's three point play helped Liaoning overtake the lead 77-75, and they surged ahead with a 12-0 run to seal the victory.
Fu Hao scored 24 points for Liaoning, while Beijing's Marcus Keene managed a team-high 25 points.
In another game on Sunday, Tremont Waters notched 35 points, with eight three-pointers, to help the Southern Tigers edge the Shanghai Sharks 112-99, who had center Wang Zhelin score a team-high 30 points.
"We did better on the defensive end, but young players have to make fewer mistakes," said Southern Tigers coach Du Feng after the game.
Elsewhere, the Guangzhou Loong Lions defeated the Ningbo Rockets 92-77 at home, while the Qingdao Eagles overturned the Fujian Sturgeons 105-92.
