Quentin Peterson contributed a season-high 60 points but was unable to reverse the table for Jilin Northeast Tigers as the team lost to Guangdong Southern Tigers 116-111 in the 34th round of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league regular season on Tuesday.
It's the third time for the two teams to encounter in the current season, and the 4th-ranked Guangdong bagged all victories.
Zhou Qi led Guangdong with a double-double of 20 points and 20 rebounds, Hu Mingxuan added 28 points, and MarShon Brooks devoted 19 points. On Jilin's sheet, Jiang Yuxing took 17 points and Ding Haoran scored 14 points.
With four three-pointers, three jump shots and a layup in the opening quarter, Peterson once helped Jilin lead with nine points, before Guangdong clawed their way back and closed the gap to one point at halftime.
Peterson continued to show his prowess after the intermission, but Guangdong kept the momentum and the tide in their favor through the last quarter.
Guangdong will next face 5th-ranked Zhejiang Golden Bulls on Friday, while Jilin will compete with the Shenzhen Aviators.
