Greek basketball player Giannis Antetokounmpo and race walker Antigoni Drisbioti have been named Greece's flagbearers for the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympic Games, the Hellenic Olympic Committee (HOC) announced on Tuesday.
The 29-year-old NBA star, who was born in Athens to Nigerian parents, and the 40-year-old race walker who represented Greece at Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020, will be the first two athletes the crowd will welcome during the opening ceremony of Paris 2024 on July 26.
Greece, as the country who gave the Games to the world, always leads the team parade in the Olympic opening ceremony.
