Uncapped Valencia midfielder Enzo Barrenechea has been included in Argentina's squad for World Cup qualifiers against Paraguay and Peru, the Argentine football association said on Tuesday.
Albiceleste manager Lionel Scaloni also called up Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, who missed October qualifiers against Venezuela and Bolivia due to suspension.
But there was no place for Roma forward Paulo Dybala, despite his return to fitness following an unspecified muscle injury.
Barrenechea, 23, has made seven appearances for Valencia and scored one goal since arriving on loan from Aston Villa in September.
Argentina will meet Paraguay in Asuncion on November 14 and Peru in Buenos Aires five days later.
The reigning World Cup and Copa America champion currently leads the South American zone World Cup qualifying standings with 22 points from 10 games.
