Midfielder Boris Cespedes has been ruled out of Bolivia's FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Ecuador and Paraguay due to a nerve problem in his back, the Bolivian Football Federation (FBF) said on Sunday.
Cespedes suffered the injury while playing for Yverdon-Sport FC against FC Basel in Switzerland's top flight on Saturday.
The FBF did not immediately name a replacement for the 29-year-old.
Bolivia will meet Ecuador in Guayaquil on Thursday and Paraguay in El Alto five days later.
La Verde is currently seventh in the South American zone's 10-team standings with 12 points from 10 qualifiers.
The top six teams will automatically qualify for the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada. The seventh-ranked side will advance to an intercontinental playoff.
