Israeli EuroLeague side Maccabi Tel Aviv announced on Wednesday the signing of shooting guard Marial Shayok on a two-year contract.
The 29-year-old Canadian-born South Sudanese recently played in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league for the Shandong Heroes and the Liaoning Flying Leopards.
He averaged 18.2 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.4 assists in a total of 57 CBA games.
Since 2023, Shayok has represented the South Sudan national team, playing eight games at the 2023 FIBA World Cup and the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, averaging 13.9 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 1.8 assists.
Shayok's career also includes four NBA games with Philadelphia after he was selected by the Sixers in the 2019 NBA draft with the 54th overall pick, and one season with Turkish side Fenerbahce in 2021-22, during which he played 15 EuroLeague games.
Maccabi head coach Oded Kattash said that Shayok "will give us more versatility and depth, and we are looking forward to getting him up to speed quickly so that he can help us achieve our goals."
