Mexico international forward German Berterame scored twice as Monterrey advanced to the Liga MX semifinals on Sunday with a 5-3 victory at Pumas UNAM.
Berterame struck in the 32nd and 73rd minutes at Estadio Olimpico Universitario while Lucas Ocampos, Gerardo Arteaga and Oliver Torres were also on target for the visitor in the quarterfinal second leg.
Meanwhile, Guillermo Martinez scored either side of Ignacio Pussetto's 66th-minute strike for the host.
The result handed Rayados a 6-3 win on aggregate following its 1-0 victory in the first leg on Thursday.
"We had to be at our best for 200 minutes to get through this quarterfinal stage," Monterrey manager Martin Demichelis told a post-match news conference.
"They made things very difficult for us but we controlled the situation well and scored some great goals to relieve the pressure."
Monterrey will meet San Luis in the semifinals after the latter held Tigres UANL to a goalless home draw on Sunday to complete a 3-0 win on aggregate.
The other semifinal will be contested by Cruz Azul and America, who completed respective victories over Tijuana and Toluca on Saturday.
