Santos is preparing a bid to sign Portuguese coach Luis Castro for the 2025 season, according to widespread media reports in Brazil.
The eight-time Brazilian Serie A champions have been without a head coach since parting ways with Fabio Carille last month.
Santos will return to Brazil's top flight next year after securing the Serie B title, finishing one point ahead of second-placed Mirassol.
Castro, 63, has been out of work since leaving Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr in September following a disappointing run of results.
Other names linked to the vacant Santos position include Cuca, Renato Gaucho and Antonio Oliveira.
