Former Mexico international midfielder Gonzalo Pineda has been appointed manager of Atlas for the 2025 season, the Liga MX club said on Thursday.
The 42-year-old replaces Spaniard Benat San Jose who parted ways with the Guadalajara-based club earlier in the week.
"Welcome to La Academia, Gonzalo Pineda. An opportunity that unites our paths awaits us and we are sure that with the support of our fans and your expertise, we will go a long way," Atlas said in a statement on social media.
Pineda, a former defensive midfielder who earned 45 Mexico caps, had been out of work since ending his tenure in charge of MLS club Atlanta United in June.
Atlas was eliminated from the Liga MX Apertura title race after losing 3-0 away to Tijuana in the playoff on November 24.
