During the men's team sprint, the British team took advantage of the rules to win gold. Philip Hindes fell shortly after taking off, which gave the British team a second chance. Hindes and fellow Britons Chris Hoy and Jason Kenny beat France in the final and simultaneously broke the world record.
The 19-year-old cyclist stated after the race that he had crashed on purpose to get the race restarted. They just played with the rules. The International Cycling Union confirmed the final result would not be questioned.
Some insiders say regulations should be clarified and the ambiguous phrasing of the rules on restarts needs to be amended.
