The average Internet connection speed on the Chinese mainland reached 3.14Mbps in the first quarter of 2013, according to a quarterly report on Internet speed tests conducted in China, which was released by Qihoo 360 Technology.
Shanghai Municipality headed the list with the fastest average connection speed of 4.70Mbps.
Shanxi Province, Jilin Province and Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region took the basement positions, with average connection speeds of 2.47 Mbps, 2.45 Mbps and 2.30 Mbps respectively.
According to the report, Chinese netizens enjoy the fastest speeds from 4 to 6 a.m. and suffer the slowest speeds from 8 to 9 p.m. China’s Internet connection speed is quicker during the week than at weekends due to the fact that more netizens come online at weekends.
